Coding practice

Any suggestion on good sites to use to practice coding? I found some java sites but they contain a lot of lessons that increase in difficulty. This made me think. Would there be a market for a site that allowed the community to submit either code snippets or program requests that the community could work on? Obviously it could be abused by homework requests or business requests but there would be attempts at controlling this abuse. There could be a community leader board for points for completion and/or rating of quality of work. The thought would be that the site would be a place that programmers of all ilk could go to regularly to work on a coding problem that would not be overly complex and time consuming in order to practice.

Back Me Up here...

I just got a new 2TB external HDD after my iomega 1TB croaked, and I'm looking to back up all 3 of our home PCs. They're connected wirelessly to the network, but one is running XP and the others are running win7. One box (running 7) is always on, the other two periodically.

The awesome IT guy at work recommended Acronis which would cost $80 (on their site... Invisible Hand says Amazon has it cheaper) - has anyone used this? Do you recommend something else? The reviews online are all 5 star that I've found. I just want to make sure that my topography won't screw it up.

That is all.

People create language, I accept that, but when you argue that it grows organically, I say that means that it grows - that is, it shouldn't regress, or move laterally even, but expand and grow.

Eat Out Tokens

Pie and I keep trying to set limits on how often we eat out, both for our health and to save money. The last declaration was that we could eat out no more than once a week, which we both immediately independently decided meant "no more than once a week together." And yesterday we ate out (together) for every meal. So clearly that didn't work.

So we've come up with a new plan that we're starting today... Every morning we each earn 1 Token, but we can never have more than 5 Tokens in our possession at a time (again, that's 5 each). Normally, eating out costs 2 Tokens, but it only costs 1 Token if any of the following conditions is met:

Neither of us is paying for the meal

The meal costs a total of 6 or less Weight Watchers Points

We are eating out together (it still costs us 1 Token each)

I'll try to post occasional updates on whether or not we are actually capable of following this. We just started today and I'm already 1 Token in the hole, and I expect to still be at -1 at the end of the week, but I'll post a follow-up comment shortly with how that math works out.
